Just wanted to send a quick note to all of you and say thank you for supporting my work. When I started writing this Substack nearly two years ago, it was a way for me to exorcise my relationship with organized religion. Since then, I’ve only become more curious about the state of American Catholicism and how it connects to the modern person’s hunger for spiritual fulfillment outside of traditional faith institutions. Now 100 of you read my words: reflections on growing up Catholic, think pieces on the structures, rituals, and traditions that constitute Catholicism, and Q&As with lapsed, questioning, and practicing Catholics.
As I enter year three of Lapsed Catholic, I’m looking to take this Substack in a research-oriented direction and, hopefully one day, expand it beyond this digital platform. So I want to hear from you, my readers. Why do you read Lapsed Catholic? What, if anything, resonates with you? And going forward, what do you want to see more of from me? Drop a comment or message me.

Hi Amelia, I started reading your blog because I have a shared Catholic upbringing, and also left the Catholic church. I left for different reasons and am now a Protestant Christian. I wanted to meet/read thoughts from other former Catholics & find a community of other former Catholics :)
